Cat-scent wafted out of the cave, where the Leader's Pit was. A stench that made you want to scurry away like a mouse from a fox. Inside the shallow pit, a dark gray shape crouched, almost invisible among the coarse, smoky-seeming ground.

Cruel fangs shone sharply through the dark den. Spider looked up briefly, amber eyes scanning outside her pit. It was snow-covered an cold. The cave protected her from these things, but her matted gray-black pelt twitched wearily. She hated snow- she prefered warmth to cold. She leaned back down, crunching the bones of her prey.

A small, slender reddish-colored tom padded in uncertainly. He had, oddly enough, fear in his amber eyes. The black-flecked tom bowed his pointed face to the ground, as Spider looked up. The she-cat's matted gray fur twitched as she stood up, amber eyes piercing Adderpaw to the bone. "Adderpaw," she hissed, voice bringing fear into Adderpaw, "did you manage to kill the kit?" Adderpaw did noy look up. He forced his reddish-brown fur to stay down, fur it was puffing in fear. This cat possessed a power he could not stand up to. She could bring fear to a bear and shock it to death. He shivered slightly. "No." he mewed. "He managed to survive. I tried my best to murder him after he got out, but it was no use." Spider snorted, sharpening long, deadly claws on a boulder. "You killed your mother quite well. I expected a kit to be no harder. Does the Clan still suspect you are with me?" "No, my liege. Except for the kit and a warrior, no one, not even my sister." Spider's amber eyes narrowed in content. "Good. Leave." she flicked her gray-black tail in dismissal, and Adderpaw left, stumbling.
